Dating back to the mid-1800s, the stone-built Blacksmith’s Cottage has seen various uses, from a chicken shed to a converted home office. The goal was to craft a warm, multi-functional living space.
We began the transformation with building the old office storage room into a small bathroom and created a sleeping mezzanine above. A kitchen area, complete with an integrated induction hob, sink, and mini fridge, was also added.
Maintaining a traditional style sympathetic to the building, we integrated the client’s love for William Morris, incorporating inherited “Strawberry Thief” curtains and a rug that heavily influenced the warm red and dark green color scheme. Reflecting the client’s passion for Indian furniture and antiques, we also locally sourced pieces like an Indian bookcase, a Rajasthani painted trunk for a coffee table, and a chesterfield sofa from a nearby antique shop to embellish the space.
Working with English Interiors on our kitchen renovation was an absolute delight! Catherine's expertise and vision turned our cramped kitchen into a spacious, open-plan area perfect for cooking and entertaining. Throughout the process, Catherine worked closely with us, involving us every step of the way to ensure our vision was realised. From the initial consultation to the final design, the journey was seamless and very enjoyable. Highly recommend!
